ORGANISERS of festivals and shows are beginning to pop up like spring flowers as the sunshine brings out visitors to French towns and villages.
Here is a quick collection of events coming up in the next few weeks for those wanting to discover something a little different.


St Joseph's MedievalsIn Marseille enjoy feasts of the Middle Ages at the heart of St Joseph park. Jugglers, waders, acrobats, magicians and knights will be entertaining crowds in the colourful and fairy tale like squares and streets.
A Baroque music concert and a medieval party are also on the programme, at this free event.March 30 and 31.
Bird Festival, PicardyThe wildlife and birds festival offers more than 200 tours in the heart of the Bay of Somme: bird watching and walking tours, kayak and boat trips, among others.
Experienced guides will take you off the beaten track and in the countryside, you will walk along marshlands, dunes and cliffs to discover the amazing world of wildlife. New for 2007: 'Le Village Nature' and a watercolour paintings exhibition.April 14 to 22.
Montélimar Terra Potiers, Vallée du Rhône, ProvenceMontélimar, located in the departement of the Drôme, will organise a pottery market, the fourth edition of Montélimar Terra Potiers.
Craftsmen and potters from the area and from other parts of France will be exhibiting their creations in the city centre. Over two days there will be workshops for children and adults, artists shows and a competition with prizes for the best artists.Montélimar Terra Potiers, Allées provençales and public gardenApril 28 and 29 from 9 am to 7pm.
